If you have ever brought a sign and place it outside, then you’ll know how susceptible they are to the everchanging weather.
For example:
- Signs can have their colour dulled due to sun exposure.
- In strong winds, signs can be swept away – even when they’re safely secure.
However, there are many things we do to ensure as minimal damage to your sign as possible – and there are also steps you can take to ensure your sign has longevity.
Vinyl
In a bid to keep your signs lasting as long as possible, we can use a vinyl that comes with a UV protection so that when it’s placed in the sun the colour doesn’t fade as quickly.
All of our vinyls are also waterproof, so if your sign is in an area with high levels of rainfall then you can relax knowing that the signs will be able to withstand any issues.
Extreme winds
If your sign is placed in a high place – as a opposed to shop signs which are fixed to an unmovable structure – then they may be suspectible to being lifted off by the wind.
It could be that your sign is erected into the ground, and the wind lifts it out, or that you have a V-board attached a building and the screws come loose.
Either way, it may be unfortunate, but it is not uncommon to lose your signage to the unruly nature of the wind.
If your sign is at risk of this happening, then for a preventative measure, we always survey the site before any sign goes up. If we think it might be at risk of coming down, then we’ll let you know and recommend another solution.
You may choose to go ahead with the original location, and you’d be within your right to do so, however, if the problem keeps occurring, we won’t be able to keep putting it up again for you.
Other extreme weathers
In the case of snow, your signs shouldn’t be impacted too much. Our signs are durable enough to withstand the freeze and should defrost without losing any of the original design.
For those who didn’t get a sign, but instead brought signage for their van then we always recommend keeping your vehicle under a cover overnight.
It’ll be absolutely fine for on the road and daily use, but keeping it under a cover at night ensures that it stays safe.
