Those who know us know we’re a family-run business – and while we’ve been around for a while, we like to adapt to whatever may come our way in the changing season of sign making.
And in 25 years, much has changed.
1995
We began our small business in the mid-90’s, starting with the patriarch of our company, Signs for You focused on the customer before anything else.
While the origin of Signs for You has many similarities to the business that operates today, there have been a few new additions to match the transformation of technology.
Predominately in 1995, we still worked with screen printers and were slowly introducing digital machines – when compared with 2021, although we still have screen printers in our warehouse, it’s much less used than our digital counterparts.
Now
Recently, we introduced two new machines into our workshop: the Mimaki and the Anapurna.
Both of these combine the latest technology in the industry with the reliability of iconic machines that are symbolic in the industry.
The Anapurna uses LED lights to print on a range of materials, such as acrylic, metal, and wood.
While the Mimaki is used to work on large-scale pieces, for example, we often use the Mimaki to create the vinyl graphics for our vehicle wraps. All signs made on the Mimaki are also finished with a natural gloss finish.
Beyond the machines we have in our warehouse, we’ve also seen signs transform to incorporate various technological elements.
One such example would be LED lights. Many times, we work to create signs that embed these lights into the frame so that they stand out against the dark of the night.
Other transformations in technology may be something similar to materials which kill all bacteria within 24 hours. In a time when COVID has put a halt on regular life, transformations in the sign industry aren’t limited to transformations in technology, but also the materials we use.
We expect technology to transform the way we create our signs in the next 10, 20, or 30 years – and we welcome it.
Whether the change of technology brings on something radical like signs with QR codes printed or a 3D graphic, we’re excited to see what the future could bring.
